Autumn in Berlin
Bringing guests to less hidden places like the GDR relict of 1986. Today, the monuments of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels at Spandauer Str., downtown Berlin’s “green oasis”, are said to remain with the people’s will, if respected. We hope it will.

Syria remains in a dramatic situation . . .
. . . just ask our friends who made it to come over . . . people escaping from the MENA region, including from Libya. Germany counts some 200.000 refugees from Syria, the total estimate for the year 2015 is at 800.000, thereof 40% from the Western Balkan.

We celebrate Berlin’s Fall of the Wall
Berlin has been the German Development Institute’s office beginnings back in 1963. 25 years later, we celebrate Berlin’s Fall of the Wall in Berlin!
50 years later, some of us are back as DIE-GDI alumnis and live in Berlin again :-). Since late 2000, the GDI operates from Bonn, Germany’s former capital.
New faces New Voices (RSA) on Berlin Tour
Thank You ‘New Faces New Voices’ from Uganda and South Africa, for joining berlinisghts touring thru Berlin! The giant monument of 1935 shows the Federal Ministry of Finance at Leipziger street (former Air Ministry) with VIII departments, led by 18% women in upper positions O N L Y … (they could do with some NFNV support :-). Our visitors felt some modesty when alerted to The German chancellor’s private address near Museum Island, ending close to the hardly noticed read light of 1924, a replique at Leipziger Platz.

Hindu Temple Berlin, September Opening

berlinsights paid an extended visit to Berlin’s first Hindu temple inaugurated in Neukoellen/Britz in September 2013. It was a sunny day with hundreds of visitors from nearby and abroad, both contributing to making teh atmosphere special!
